Dr. Maria Wanzala-Mlobela is a highly experienced agricultural policy and market development expert, currently serving as the Director of Policy at the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AFAP). With over two decades of experience in her field, Dr. Wanzala has made significant contributions to the agricultural sector in Africa, including serving as a Senior Economist at IFDC and as the Director of Policy for AFAP.

Dr. Wanzala’s academic background is impressive, with a Bachelor’s degree in International Service and Development from World College West, a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from Rutgers University, and a Doctorate in Agricultural Economics from Michigan State University. She also worked as a research assistant at both Rutgers and Michigan State.

Dr. Wanzala’s expertise and knowledge of agricultural policy and market development have been instrumental in shaping AFAP’s strategic direction and its contributions to the African agriculture sector. Her work has also extended to international organizations like the African Union’s New Partnership for African Development, where she served as a Senior Economist. Her contributions to the field have been invaluable, and she continues to be a respected voice in African agricultural policy and market development.
