AFAP and ANAPRI Sign MoU to Advance Africa's Agricultural Sector
During Day 2 of the Hub Agro-dealers Development Conference (HADC), AFAP and the Africa Network of Agricultural Policy Research Institutes (ANAPRI) signed a pivotal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement marked a significant step towards collaborative efforts aimed at advancing Africa’s agricultural sector.
The MoU outlined several key initiatives designed to enhance agricultural development across the continent. One of the primary actions involves joint research using ANAPRI’s Policy Prioritization Value Chain Analysis model on AFAP’s extensive data. This collaboration will help inform policy options and foster value chain development, ultimately benefiting the agricultural landscape in Africa.
Additionally, AFAP and ANAPRI plan to support governments in developing effective fertilizer and soil health policies. They will also work to establish dialogue platforms that facilitate communication between stakeholders and promote investment opportunities within the agricultural sector.
The MoU was signed by representatives from both organizations which included Michael Sudarkasa, President and CEO, African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership; Dr. Rosemary Isoto, Board Member, Africa Network of Agricultural Research Policy Institutes; Dr. Maria Wanzala, Vice-President of Policy, AFAP; and Dr. Tinashe Kapuye, Research Director, Africa Network of Agricultural Research Policy Institutes.
This partnership represents a commitment to leveraging expertise and resources to drive sustainable agricultural growth in Africa. By combining AFAP’s practical experience in fertilizer and agribusiness with ANAPRI’s robust research capabilities, the collaboration aims to create impactful policies and initiatives that support farmers and enhance food security across the continent.
