AFAP to Resume Trade Credit Guarantee Program in Tanzania
01 Aug 2023
AFAP will be resuming and expanding its trade credit guarantee program in Tanzania, beginning in the fall of 2023 in the western hemisphere. The program will run with funding from the African Development Bank (AfDB)’s Africa Fertilizer Financing Mechanism (AFFM) with an implementation phase running from 2023 to 2026.
Building on the success of the previous trade credit guarantee program that covered 14 regions in Tanzania, the expanded project will now include five additional regions: Ruvuma, Manyara, Rukwa, Kagera, and Mwanza. This expansion is a testament to AFAP’s commitment to reaching more farmers and enhancing food security across Tanzania.
One of the expected outcomes of this initiative is the significant increase in agricultural productivity and overall food security in Tanzania, supporting the African Development Bank’s Feed Africa Strategy.
