Africa Fertilizer Map 2021 – Africa towards Sustainable Agriculture
Africa is moving fast towards sustainable agriculture, facing many challenges while developing valid market solutions and providing socio-economic opportunities. Africa’s agriculture transformation is needed to achieve food security in resilient and sustainable agri-food supply chains/systems.
The Africa Fertilizer Map is the first-ever visualization tool that contains Africa’s fertilizer data provided by different associations – primarily AfricanFertilizer.org (AFO) and the International Fertilizer Association (IFA) – and inputs from others, the African Plant Nutrition Institute (APNI), International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC), African Union (AUC), Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA). Once again, OCP Africa is the Diamond Plus Sponsor in 2021 while African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP) and Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA) are supporting sponsors.
This year, through my company Astrategia Limited, I developed the Africa Fertilizer Map 2021 in partnership with AFRIQOM to provide better content, visibility and placement. Besides displaying imports/exports, manufacturing and blending plants and projects, consumption figures, we focussed on the impact of initiatives geared to the development of African agriculture, like the 4R Solutions Project led by APNI in Kenya, Ethiopia, Ghana and Senegal; the role of AFAP Agro-dealers; government fertilizer subsidies; OCP’s various activities to support smallholder farmers all around Africa with soil testing, innovation and agronomical training.
I wish to extend my sincere thanks to AFRIQOM for participating in the project, to OCP Africa and to all associations for supporting and giving me the opportunity again to share Africa data and raise awareness on the importance of Africa in the path towards food security and sustainable agriculture.
