Celebrating the Launch of Sustain Africa - Nigeria Program: A Partnership for Food Security
Michael Sudarkasa, AFAP President and CEO, had the distinct pleasure of meeting the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Kashim Shettima, and, on behalf of the Sustain Africa Initiative, he executed a Memorandum of Engagement that had been entered into by AFAP and the Government of Nigeria to mark the commencement of the implementation of the Sustain Africa – Nigeria program.
Since August 2022, AFAP has served as the lead implementer of the Sustain Africa fertilizer emergency relief program in Uganda, Mozambique, Malawi, Ghana, Kenya, and Zambia, in collaboration with IRM in Madagascar, and most recently, in Nigeria.
During his visit to the ASO Rock offices of the Vice-President, Michael was also joined by the Minister of State for Agriculture, Sen. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi.
Ben Valk, Sustain Africa Executive Director, introduced the Sustain Africa Initiative, while Michael provided context by highlighting AFAP’s extensive work in Nigeria over nearly five years. Together, Michael and Ben pledged their support to develop additional partnerships in line with President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s Food Security Agenda for Nigeria.
