MAPUTO, MOZAMBIQUE – The Fertilizer Financing for Sustainable Agriculture Management (FFSAM) project, funded by the African Development Bank’s African Fertilizer Financing Mechanism (AFFM) and implemented by the African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP), is addressing gender disparities in Mozambique’s agricultural input sector. A baseline study found that only 11% of hub agro-dealers and 18% of retail agro-dealers are women, underscoring the need for more inclusive support.

To respond to this gap, FFSAM Mozambique organized a two-day gender training in Chimoio on April 8–9, 2025. The session brought together 30 women, including six agro-dealers and 24 professionals working across the input supply chain. The training focused on raising awareness of gender challenges in agribusiness, creating a space for participants to share experiences, and identifying practical actions to support women’s greater participation in the sector.

By equipping women with knowledge and tools to address these barriers, the FFSAM project aims to promote a more balanced and accessible agricultural input system in Mozambique.
