Strengthening African Agriculture: OCP Africa and AFAP Join Forces to Empower Farmers
OCP Africa and the African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP) had a two-day workshop in Marrakech to develop a comprehensive approach that would improve Africa’s agricultural value chain and address the challenges faced by African smallholder farmers.
The workshop provided a platform for designing key actions aligned with the OCP 2023-2027 strategy. The focus of the discussions was on leveraging Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P)’s R&D projects to drive agricultural change in Africa, with an emphasis on innovation, technology transfer, and the use of scientific discoveries in real-world applications.
Discussions centered around leveraging UM6P’s R&D initiatives to support the transformation of agriculture in Africa, with a focus on innovation, technology transfer, and practical implementation of scientific findings.
Based on OCP Africa and AFAP’s experience in supporting innovation, capacity building, and sustainable practices for the benefit of farmers and agribusinesses across the continent, the two organizations, utilizing their combined knowledge and resources, have the potential to positively influence African agriculture.
