Successful Technical Meeting Precedes FFSAM Project Launch

The technical meeting for the Fertilizer Financing for Sustainable Agriculture Management (FFSAM) project, hosted by AFAP Uganda in collaboration with the Africa Fertilizer Financing Mechanism (AFFM) and the African Development Bank Group, concluded successfully today, paving the way for tomorrow’s official launch at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
Key highlights from the project’s gender action plan, aimed at enhancing fertilizer access for 400,000 smallholder farmers in Uganda, include:
- Development of a Gender Monitoring Policy: Establishing guidelines to track gender-related progress within the project.
- Gender Awareness Training: Conducting training sessions for program staff to enhance understanding of gender issues.
- Gender Analysis of the Fertilizer Chain: Assessing the roles of men and women in the value chain to identify opportunities for women’s empowerment.
- Capacity Building for Women: Equipping identified women with the skills needed to engage effectively in the fertilizer credit project, ensuring improved gender considerations.
Earlier today, AFAP’s VP of Financial Services, Lade Araba, delivered opening remarks at the launch of the FFSAM project, emphasizing the importance of this initiative in promoting sustainable agricultural practices in Uganda.
