Vacancy Announcement: SME Development Specialists for Uganda and Tanzania
SME DEVELOPMENT SPECIALISTS –
UGANDA AND TANZANIA
The African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP) is seeking two qualified candidates as SME Development Specialists for Uganda and Tanzania to be the primary point of contact for the agrodealers in the AFAP program and will be responsible for developing a tailored business support program to meet their needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with small and medium agrodealers in Uganda and Tanzania to coordinate the timely implementation of the SME business development program and support activities
- Design and implement tailored growth plan/strategy for participating agrodealers
- Guide agrodealers to define their needs to grow and diversify business services and product offerings
- Coach, train and support agrodealers participating in the programme
- Provide referrals to business advisory services when appropriate
- Create market linkages with relevant industry players to facilitate access to markets
- Monitor, track and report progress of agrodealers in the program
- Implement monthly planning and budgeting activities to be conducted
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in agricultural economics, business administration, and/or related fields, a Masters degree will be an added advantage
- 5-7 years of work experience working with micro, small and medium agribusinesses, experience in SME development, demand creation, market-based approaches, access to markets
- Sound analytical, organizational, project management and negotiation skills and the ability to conduct training and workshops/seminars
- Advanced computer skills, including word processing, spread sheet, power point, data management, and other packages
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills in both English and Swahili with an ability to interact with a very broad spectrum of stakeholders
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

- Consultancy contract for 12 months with possibility of extension
