Detailed Mission Overview
The African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP) is a non-profit social enterprise that partners with public and private stakeholders to strengthen agricultural input value chains, with a primary focus on expanding inclusive and sustainable fertilizer markets across Africa. Founded in 2012 as an independent organization by leading African development bodies and rooted in the Comprehensive African Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP), AFAP delivers market-driven solutions through technical expertise, entrepreneurial innovation, and public-private partnerships.
We design and implement projects that drive policy reform, build capacity for hub-agrodealers and smallholder farmers, facilitate access to finance via mechanisms like the Agribusiness Partnership Contract (APC), promote affordable crop nutrition products, and generate market intelligence. Committed to social inclusion and gender equality, AFAP empowers African agribusiness SMEs to boost productivity, enhance food security, raise incomes, create jobs, and contribute to national GDPs.
