AFAP SOUTH AFRICA (HQ)
Strategic hub for continental coordination and innovation in African fertilizer and agribusiness
The African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP) is proudly headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa. Established in 2012, our South African office serves as the central coordination point for all continental activities, housing the executive leadership, finance, monitoring & evaluation, communications, and partnership teams.
Although no large-scale field projects are currently implemented within South Africa itself, the headquarters provides critical back-office support, strategic direction, and technical oversight to our three regional hubs and nine country offices across Africa. The Johannesburg team ensures alignment with global best practices, manages donor reporting, and drives innovation in financing mechanisms such as the Agribusiness Partnership Contract (APC) and the Africa Fertilizer Financing Mechanism (AFFM).

Success Stories
AFAP has its headquarters in South Africa, where it provides structural support to its operations across the continent.
The organization has a dedicated finance office that oversees financial operations, a communications department that handles media and public relations, and a Project Management Unit that manages projects across the continent.
AFAP also has divisional heads who oversee the organization’s different units, including market development services, financial support services, and agribusiness partnerships.
These divisional heads work closely with country directors to ensure the smooth running of operations in the different African countries.
While AFAP currently does not have any ongoing projects in South Africa, the organization is open to exploring opportunities for local projects that align with its mission of supporting African smallholder farmers.
Given the importance of agriculture in South Africa’s economy, there may be opportunities for AFAP to provide its expertise and services in the country.
